Cabo Verde Peaberry

Is it better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all? Yes, of course it is! Life is for living, love is for sharing, and these peaberry beans--however little there may be of them--are for drinking.

Naturally occurring these little anomalies grow as single round beans in a pod instead of two, and when green, they look like a pea hence the name peaberry. They account for only 5 - 10% of an annual harvest rendering the sorting process time-consuming and complicated, delivering small yields at a higher cost.

They really should be more expensive. They should only be available for pre- order on the third Tuesday of the month. They should be packaged inside limited edition mini-totes, wrapped inside limited edition canisters, and tied with limited edition ribbons.

But time is fleeting, and every second spent untangling that ribbon is time that could be better spent drinking peaberry coffees. A sub-lot from a producer we’ve worked with before. These peaberries presented something exceptional on the cupping table, so we set them aside for a rainy day.

Well, that rainy day is now. Today is the day. Carpe the diem, as they say. This should be on our menu for at least a few weeks, but don’t test it, taste it.

Life is for drinking.

A buttery caramel confection of chocolate candy and cocoa cream, homemade with hints of marshmallow, nougat and orange what we mean to say is if this was dessert it would be the Dulce de Leche of coffee, the ultimate dessert coffee of South America.
