Finca Bethania
Lord Shelbourne was sure I wouldn't fit in at Boodle's, the 258-year-old luxury London establishment with posh interiors on St. James Street.

I told him I wasn't looking to join, just hoping for a comfortable Chesterfield, a cup of specialty coffee to enjoy and a copy of the Tatler.

And the chance to test a new theory of mine. Could I penetrate the inner sanctum of the English aristocracy and showcase this exceptional example of the best of Nicaraguan coffee?

Edward Boodle said I looked "curiously familiar…Eton, perhaps?"

Meanwhile, at the brew bar, Lord Ashley asked my opinion on this new Nicaraguan export from the Cafetos de Segovia micro mill. "This particular micro-lot" I responded, "comes from a 42-hectare farm planted with caturra, catuai, catimor varietals, a labour of love, an inherited passion of Ana & Martha Albir continuing in their fathers' fine tradition".
And Shelbourne looked dumbstruck as we took our first summertime sips of Finca Bethania.

"Sweetly balanced" I exclaimed. "Mellow with moreish hints of citrus and a light touch of toffee to boot too" replied Shelbourne.

Everyone nodded knowingly in agreement.

"Top me up please old boy", said Lord Ashley "we're going to enjoy this one, and yes we'll all want some more".
