Thambana Kiungu
Some people believe that coffee is all about the caffeine.

Ignore those people. They are bad influences.

Coffee for people like us is all about taste and terroir of the origin (including the caffeine).

You already know Kenyan coffees are some of the most respected in the world.

Scoring 87.5, this season's Kiungu is a classic example of how exquisite Kenyan coffees can be.

Established in 1969, Kiungu is a washing station that derived its name from a local area with salty water wells which the locals call "Kiungu".

Located near the town of Embu on the rich fertile slopes of Mount Kenya at 1,700 meters above sea level.

The coffees at Kiungu are contributed to by the Thambana Farmers' Cooperative. Consisting of 1400 small family farms, each with an average of 150 coffee trees.

The farmers here are blessed with the perfect conditions to produce renowned and exceptional coffees.

The rich red volcanic soil, high altitude and mild climate with warm days and cool evenings allow for the slow maturation of the coffee fruit. Coupled with careful processing, all of which help highlight the inherent complex flavours we like.

Whether it's about keeping you warm on a winters day or spreading warmth among relationships, this coffee can do it all for you.

A complex cup that sparkles with the fragrance of Persian Jasmine, hints wildflower honey and dark chocolate, a delicate green tea finish supported by a velvety body.

Reliably enjoyable and the perfect go-to cup. Keep a bag of Kiungu in the cupboard to have something delightful to drink in the house. Enjoy!
